Uldis Plate, age 90, of Tipp City, OH passed away on May 22, 2020 at his home. Uldis was born on September 8, 1929 in Kekava, Latvia to the late Janis and Alide (Kalnins) Plate.
Uldis is survived by his daughter: Ruth Frost of Ludlow Falls, OH; sons: Andrew Plate of Fremont, MI and Richard Plate of Tipp City, OH; brother: Janis (Velga) Plate of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren: Jennifer (Matthew) Frost-Owings of Ludlow Falls, OH and Brandon Plate of Piqua, OH; great granddaughter: Riley Owings; two nieces: Rita Plate and Goddaughter Lindy (Ty) Tanis; great nephew: Kirgin Tanis; many cousins; Godson Eric Linde and three nieces and their families in Latvia. In addition to his parents, Uldis was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Laima Plate, son: Edwin Plate, and sister: Rasma Ladite.
Uldis served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Michigan and Master of Science Degree from the University of Alabama. He retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base after 20 years.
He was very active in the Latvian organizations in the U.S. He loved golfing and was an avid U of M Wolverines fan.
