Susan (Scott) Possert

Susan Scott Possert, 79, of Troy, Ohio, peacefully passed surrounded by her children on Thursday, June 2, 2022. Susan was born in Akron, Ohio on October 6, 1942 to the late John and Harriet (Weber) Lanigan.

After graduating high school in Canton, Ohio, Susan studied nursing at the University of Michigan and became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Susan truly enjoyed her work as an anesthetist and took great satisfaction out of helping others. After retiring, she volunteered with Hospice to provide comfort to others in their final days. 

Above all else, Sue, Susie, or Susie-Q, as she was often called by her friends, was known for her generosity and kindness toward others. Be it a friend or stranger, Sue was always quick to help others in need. She loved to laugh and never took things too seriously. She enjoyed quilting and reading but was truly in her element with her hands in the soil. Sue was a master gardener and enjoyed hosting tours at her home where she spent decades cultivating a beautiful garden.

Susan is survived by her son: Jonathan (Melissa) Scott of Powell, Ohio; her daughter: Jennifer (Jason) Brown of Little Elm, Texas; her brother: John (Kathy) Lanigan of Coppell, Texas; her sisters: Beth (Gary) Pearce of Malvern, Ohio and Cathy Gerardot of Malvern, Ohio; her husband: Mark Possert of Troy, Ohio; her step-daughter: Marcia (Bob) Treadway of Dayton, Ohio; her grandsons: Bennett and Dalton Scott; her granddaughter: Madelyn Brown; and countless friends and family members.

A memorial will be planned for later this summer.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Crossroads Hospice at crhcf.org/donate or to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
