Ruth Arlene (Whitlow) (Bair) Shaffer

Ruth Arlene (Whitlow) (Bair) Shaffer, 87 of Foley, Alabama (formerly of Sidney, OH) was surrounded by her family as she joined a choir of Angels and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday January 4, 2022 at 5:23AM at Ohio's Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit, Troy, OH.  Ruth was born on September 4, 1934 in Covington, OH to the late William Parks and Laura Mae (Fitzpatrick) Whitlow. 

She married Meredith J. Shaffer, September 5, 1982.

Mrs. Shaffer was a 1952 graduate of Piqua Central High School. She worked at NCR in Dayton, OH and The Hot Dog Stand in Piqua. She later purchased The Hobby House Restaurant from her mother in Piqua, OH. She then worked for Saniguard Inc. in Piqua and was Co-Owner of AutoLube in Sidney, OH.

She was a member of Mid-County Church of Christ in Troy, OH for 40 years during which she taught Thursday School between the years of 1995-2012.

She enjoyed sewing, painting, crafting and especially will be remembered for her art of making beautiful cards for her family.  She will be missed and remembered by her husband Meredith and their 9 children, Micki (Randy Sr.) Brelsford of Piqua, OH, Ted (Amy) Bair of Springfield, OH, Todd (Wendy) Bair of Fletcher, OH, Daphna (Nate) Dyer of Harrod, OH, Evelyne Shaffer of Columbus, OH, Penny (Gerry) Williamson of Troy, OH, Cynthia (Dale) Penny of Magnolia Springs, AL, Laurel (Jon) Butt of Piqua, OH, and Amanda (Steve) Russell of Dayton, OH.

Randy Brelsford Jr., Russell Brelsford, Jeffery Bair, Sami Bair, Ali Bair, Liza Bair, Natalie Bair, Oliver Dyer, Alexander Dyer, Hailey Smith, Brianna Smith, Thomas Shaffer (Brittany) Penny, Megan Petty, Shelby Petty, Kelsey (Greg) Martin, and Stevie Russell.

5 Great Grandchildren

Makayla Brelsford, Kegan Brelsford, Harley Martin, Frances Martin, and Levi Penny.

One sister Linda Stevens of Piqua, OH.

Special friends in the Sugar Creek OH area and Foley Alabama Area, and her Special Little Canine pal "Buddy".

She was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday January 8, 2022 at 10:00AM at Mid-County Church of Christ, 1580 North Dorset Lytle Rd. Troy, OH. Calling hours will be Friday January 7, 2022 from 4:00 - 8:00PM at Mid-County Church of Christ.

Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua, OH.
