Robert Ray Jones

Robert Ray Jones, age 74, of Troy, OH passed away on July 28, 2021 at the Kettering Medical Center. He was born on May 5, 1947 in Troy to the late Raymond L. and Mary (Barnes) Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Janice S. (Lorton) Jones; children: April L. Sapp; Shelly L. Fidler; and Trent (Melinda) Jones all of Troy; grandchildren: Dylan Taylor; Miranda Sharp; Michaela Welbaum; Vanessa (Anthony) SanNicolas; Elizabeth Jones; Heather Sapp and Brandon Sapp; great-grandchildren: Claire Taylor; Oliver Taylor; Josh Weger; Addi Weger and Brianna SanNicolas; sister: Robin Rae (Gene Gibbons) Jones; niece: Abbey (Steve) Ingram and their children: Seth, Sydney and Alex and nephew: Chad (Amy) Gibbons.

Bob was a 1966 graduate of Miami East High School and a US Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He retired as a mechanic for the City of Troy in 2002. Bob enjoyed square dancing and serving as a square dance caller. He was a member of the Indiana Callers Association, the Miami Valley Callers Association and Double H Squares of Huber Heights.  He was a member of the AFL-CIO; Goldwing Road Riders Association, the Masonic Lodge in Piqua and Gettysburg, and the Shriners in Greenville.

Services will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy.  Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.  The family will receive friends from 2-7PM on Monday, August 2, 2021 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229.
