Richard "Rick" K. Wear

Richard “Rick” K. Wear, age 66, of Dayton, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.  Rick was born in Portsmouth, OH on February 1, 1954 to the late George and Esther (Wendelken) Wear.

Rick is survived by his children: Heather (Jeff) Van Cleef of Hilliard, OH; Michelle (Eric) Hammer of Covington, KY, and Nicholas Wear of Columbus; grandchildren: Mackenzie Van Cleef, Alexis Van Cleef, and Delaney Van Cleef; life partner: Joannie Copeland; siblings: Scott Wear of Carabella, FL; Tom (Markie) Wear of King George, VA; and Rachel Collingsworth of West Portsmouth, OH and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother: Larry Wear and brother-in-law: Dean Collingsworth.

Rick was a 1976 graduate of The Ohio State University and was a manager at Friendly’s Restaurant for 26 years.  He was an avid Buckeye and music fan, loved traveling but mostly loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Yabos Tacos, 5242 Cemetery Rd., Hilliard, OH 43026.
