Richard D. Scott

RICHARD D. SCOTT, age 93, of Troy, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit in Troy.  He was born in Cambridge, Nebraska on September 11, 1927 to the late George B. and Elizabeth Ann (Hiatt) Scott.

Dick is survived by his wife of 47 years: Geneivra M. ”Genie” (Swank) Scott; children: Mary Elizabeth (Matt) Barton of Dayton, Susanne (Kenneth Earles) Scott of Palestine, James A. (Stacy) Scott of Troy, Stacey R. (Nancy) Scott of Troy, Steven R. Scott of Troy, Stanley R. Scott of Troy, Starr R. Scott of Covington and Stewart R. Scott of Covington; sister: Karen Simmons of Colorado; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Alma and Betty; and a grandson: Dan Wilford Smith.

Dick proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy during WW II, serving aboard the USS Bunker Hill Aircraft Carrier.  He was a member of Troy Gospel Tabernacle.  Dick was also a member of Troy VFW Post 5436.  He was a welder by trade, later working for the City of Troy in the Wastewater Department.  Dick enjoyed cutting and polishing stones for jewelry and working with stained glass.

Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Baird Funeral Home with Pastor Rich Baker officiating.
