Marvin Francis Obituary

Marvin J. Francis (7/12/1933 - 7/5/2022)

Marvin J. Francis was born on July 12, 1933 in Troy, OH to the late Marvin
Francis and Addie Marie (Ford) Francis. Marvin, fondly called Junior and JR,
spent his childhood on the family farm before moving to Casstown, OH with
his beautiful bride of 67 years, Rita (Millhouse) Francis, who survives. Marvin
and Rita have made Bowling Green, OH their home for the last four years.

Marvin was a humble man of strength: spiritually, mentally, and physically,
who was well-known for his powerful, yet gentle, hands. He faced a
month-long battle of illnesses, hospital stays and rehab center visits with great
courage. On Tuesday, July 5, in his home and in the comforting presence of his
beloved family, Marvin passed peacefully from this world to be with his God.

In addition to his wife Rita, Marvin’s family members include son, Michael R.
Francis; daughter Ann F. McVey, both of Bowling Green, OH; and daughter Amy
J. (Philip) Goldstein of Timnath, CO. Marvin is survived by brothers Maynard
(Alfrieda) Francis of Troy, OH and Lester (Lennett) Francis of Casstown, OH.
In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his brother and
sister-in-law, Galen and Midge Francis; nephew Loren Francis; and son-in-law,
Douglas McVey.

Marvin cherished his grandchildren Jeff (Tracey) McVey of West Chester, OH;
Lindsey (Andrew) Krontz of Bowling Green, OH; Jennie (Howard) McNier of
Nashville, TN; Candra (Adam) Carr of Coldwater, MI; and Thomas Francis of
Atlanta, GA. Marvin was also over-the-moon crazy about his
great-grandchildren Madison and Tyler McVey; Kip and Cole Krontz; and
Marlow McNier.

Marvin was a life-long member of the Lostcreek United Church of Christ where
he loved singing in the choir. He also loved playing softball, bowling, riding his
bike, and spending time with his furry friends Cooper, Benson, and Harley.
Giving to others brought Marvin the greatest joy. Known by his co-workers as
Marvelous Marv, he was a talented carpenter whose work will be admired for
many years to come. There was no task too big or too small and no distance
too great for Marvin. He touched the lives of hundreds of family members,
friends, neighbors, acquaintances, and strangers alike with his talents. Marvin
lived by the motto of ‘Any job worth doing, is worth doing right.’ All projects,
from crafting cradles for newborns to building playhouses for the
grandchildren to renovating the sanctuary at Lostcreek Church, were
approached with dedication, pride, and artistry.

A celebration of Marvin’s life will be held on Monday, July 11, at Lostcreek
United Church of Christ with Pastor Jason Egbert officiating. Visitation will
begin at 12:00 noon with a service at 1:00. Following the service, Marvin will
be laid to rest at Casstown Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to Hospice of Northwest
Ohio for their compassionate and caring services during this time in Marvin’s
life.
