Lonnie Ray Massingill

Lonnie Ray Massingill, age 73, of Troy, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.  He was born on April 14, 1948 in Harlan County, KY, to the late Claude and Helen (Fultz) Massingill.  On April 14, 1972, he married Addie (Shade) Massingill and they were married for nearly 50 years.

In addition to his wife, Lonnie is survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Debbie and Terry Iddings of Troy and their children: Jody Iddings and Todd (Amanda) Iddings, both of Lexington, KY; siblings: Shirley Casteel on TN, Don Massingill of TN, Ken and Linda Massingill of  NC, Claudine Sherman of Galion, Pat Page of Troy, Charlotte and Robert May of Troy, Stanley and Becky Massingill of Troy, and Ruby and Dana Brown of GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Austin “Gary” Massingill.

Lonnie proudly served his country as a member of the US Army, serving in Vietnam.  He was employed by JC Oren Plastering and worked all of the State of Ohio.  Lonnie was honored by Dayton Builders Assoc., for his work, including the work he did on Paul Brown Stadium.  He was a big NASCAR fan, with Dale Earnhardt as his favorite driver.  Lonnie and his wife enjoyed bowling in leagues at Troy Bowl and Sherwood Bowl for 35 years.

Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Baird Funeral Home in Troy.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Troy with full military honors by Veterans Memorial Honor Guard of Troy.  Family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:30 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
