Jay Dee Tharp

Jay Dee Tharp, age 78, of Tipp City, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at StoryPoint in Troy.  He was born on November 17, 1943, in East Carbon, UT, to the late Leo and Neva (Smith) Tharp.

Jay is survived by one daughter: Sherry (Timothy) Priddy of Tipp City; three stepchildren: Jerry (Barbara) Miller of Hooper, UT, Thea (Bruce) Nickodemus of Price, UT and Tresa ( Larry) Christansen of Elmo, UT; brother: Leroy (Karen) Tharp of Salt Lake City, UT; sister: Lou Ann Miller of Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren Matthew Priddy of Louisville, KY, Jodie (Cory) Zell of Troy and Taylor Priddy of Cincinnati; and great grandson: Andrew Zell of Troy.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Dorthey (Tallerico) Tharp; and brothers: Willard Tharp and Dick Tharp.

Jay was a 1962 graduate of East Carbon High School.  He proudly served his country as a member of the US Air Force from 1963-1967.  Jay loved to travel, fish and hunt.  He also enjoyed playing cards and making jerky.  He retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Services for Jay will be held at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
