James Matthew "Jim" Fox Obituary

JAMES MATTHEW “JIM” FOX, 43 years old of Troy, Ohio, passed from this life to his heavenly home on June 30, 2021.  He was the son of James Lowell and Sue Ann (Rickerson) Fox, who preceded him in death.

Jim is survived by the love of his life, Erica (Roman) Fox, and their three children whom he adored and cherished: son’s Gracen and Keegan Fox, and daughter Ashlyn Fox.  Jim lived for his family and he thanked God daily for them. He often spoke of how blessed he was to have won over the heart of his wife, Erica, so many years ago.  Jim’s children were the joys of his life and he had a very special and unique relationship with each child.  One of his favorite pastimes was spending individual time with each of his children, doing something they liked to do together, and he was always actively involved with their extra-curricular activities, school events, sports, etc.  Jim was also a life long Star Trek fan and an avid video gamer, both new and old school games.  He had a collection of game systems and their respective games, that surpassed many gamers.  To say he was a “tech geek” was definitely appropriate.  If you needed your computer fixed, upgraded, or tweaked, he was our “go to” guy!

Jim had a heart of gold, and was a gentle and quiet man.  He didn’t care to be the center of attention, but he did have a quick wit and a tremendous sense of humor.  He often had those who knew him best laughing uncontrollably at his jokes and humorous antics.  In fact his wife, Erica, always said it was his sense of humor, and that he could always make her laugh, that won over her heart.

Jim was a 1997 graduate of Troy High School and attended several secondary education technology schools earning specialized certification in computer science.  He was employed at Clopay Building Products in Troy, Ohio.  Jim was preceded in death, not only by his mother; but also his maternal grandmother; Kittie Sue (McVey) Rickerson, his father-in-law; Marc A. Roman, and his sister-in-law; Amanda (Roman) Rolf.  In addition to his wife, children and father; Jim is survived by one brother, Jeff (Angela) Fox, nieces Rachel and Abigail, nephews Adam and Anthony, mother-in-law; Debbie Roman, brother-in-law, Jonathan Roman and his fiancée Leah Berry; as well as many other family and close friends.

Jim’s passing is a great loss to all who loved and knew him, and he will be dearly missed.  We will see you again one day Jim, but until then, you will forever be in our hearts and thoughts.

There will be a private family funeral service and burial, and a Celebration of Life Service at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family for the children’s education.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.bairdfuneralhome.com.
