Harvey Case Obituary

Harvey E. Case, who would have turned 81 on Aug. 3, peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at his home in Troy, surrounded by his family.

First and foremost, Harvey loved Jesus Christ and lived a humble life that reflected this love in his dedication to his family, his church and his friends.

Harvey was born in Greenville, Ohio in 1939 to Oreon “Casey” Case and Retta Gordon. He married his loving wife and companion, Lois Billheimer, on April 12, 1962. Together, they raised five children: Karen Benaway (Jeff), formerly Spickler (Tim) of Fenton, MI; Daniel Case (Dawn) of Felton, DE; Julie Quardokus (Stan) of Saint Joseph, MI; Joe Case (Victoria) of Marysville, OH; Jeffery Case (Karri) of West Milton, OH. He loved to dote on all of his grandchildren, Corey and Tyler Spickler; Hattie and Frank Quardokus; Thomas, Morgan, Chris, Curtis, Steven, Andrew, Eli, Sam and Addison Case and great granddaughter Agnes Spickler.

Harvey led with a servant’s heart, always loyal, always dependable and always there with a quiet, steady presence. A veteran of the U.S. Army Third Infantry, he served in West Germany from ‘58-‘61. Following the military, he enjoyed a career in corporate security for more than 50 years, working at Hobart Bros., General Motors, Delphi and Honda of Troy. He was a dedicated member of the Troy Church of the Nazarene, serving as a former head trustee, Sunday School teacher, and usher among other roles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Harry O’Toole and his son-in-law, Tim Spickler. He is survived by his wife, Lois, brother Bill Case of Troy, sister, Jean Hess-Gillis of Casstown, his children and extended family.

The family wants to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support for Harvey in recent days. The prayers and well-wishes have provided strength, encouragement and confirmation of the impact Harvey had on all who crossed paths with him.

A memorial service for Harvey will be held at 11AM on Monday, August 3, 2020 at the Troy Church of the Nazarene, 1200 Barnhart Road, Troy.  Weather permitting, the service will be held outside.   Social distancing and masks are encouraged.  You are welcome to bring a lawn chair.
