Eugene Robert Christian

Eugene Robert Christian, age 86, of Troy, OH went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, OH. He was born on April 2, 1936 in Hallstead, PA to the late Harvey and Helen Bernita (Nemire) Christian.

Gene is survived by his wife of almost 68 years: Jean Louise (Carter) Christian; sons: Timothy David (Joyce) Christian of Green Valley, AZ and Dale Robert (Teresa) Christian of Troy; daughters: Joy Ellen (Allan) Wrona of Northfield and Janine Lynn (Kevin) Kinnett of  Bossier City, LA; brother: Gordon (Mary Ellen) Christian of Bronston, KY; nine grandchildren: Christopher, Dawn, David, Candace, Chad, Kayla, Christian, Ryley and Victoria and thirteen great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Scott Daniel Christian.

Gene was a graduate of Cedarville College with a Bachelor of Arts degree and Kent State University with a Master’s degree in education. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Troy, a life member of the Ohio Education Association and the Ohio Retired Teachers Association. Gene worked as a teacher and a principal and retired as a business manager with the Elyria City Schools after 30 years of service.  In his retirement, he worked at Cumberland Millworks Bronston, KY, Mapleside Fruit Farm, Brunswick, OH and then at Baird Funeral Home.  He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, mowing lawns and serving in his church.  

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Troy. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Friends may call on the family from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the church.
