Roberta Ann Hamby, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on July 18, 1939, in Dayton, Ohio to Woodrow and Helen Hobbs, Roberta’s life was a testament to compassion, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Helen, her son Thomas Robert Vancil, her daughter Marsha Windle, and her stepdaughter Tonya Oakes. Her legacy of love and kindness is carried on by her devoted husband of 63 years, Harry Marshall. Together, they built a beautiful family, including their son Erick and his wife Mollie Hamby, daughters Sherry Richards, Anissa and her husband Clark Watren, and Heather and her husband John Vent. Roberta was the proud grandmother of thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Her brother, Robert Hobbs, survives her and holds dear the memories they shared.
Roberta found her calling as a Registered Nurse, dedicating 42 years of emergency care at Good Samaritan Hospital and Upper Valley Medical Center. Her nurturing spirit and exceptional skill comforted countless patients during their time of need. Her colleagues remember her as a beacon of strength and a compassionate advocate for those in her care.
In keeping with Roberta’s wishes, a private ceremony will be held at Casstown Cemetery. Her family request that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Miami County.
