Robert Jerry Ballard, age 86, of Troy, Ohio passed away on April 22, 2026 at his residence, surrounded by love. He was born on December 18, 1939 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Ross E. and Alpha Ballard.
He is survived by his two children: Shelly (Mark who was also a son to him) Gordon and Robb (Lisa) Ballard; two grandchildren: Zachary (Nikki) and Samantha; great granddaughter: Jovi “Bussi”; sister: Judy Craig and many nieces and nephews. He had a special relationship with two nieces: Keena and Robin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years Edna Eunice Ballard and their dog Grover.
He was a graduate of Upper Arlington High School and proudly served his country in the US Army Reserves. He was a long-standing member of the Freemasons and Scottish Rite and a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Columbus.
He was proudly retired from Whirlpool Corporation Management and spent many years involved in Railroading with an extensive history of steam engines, specifically the 33, 1916 Baldwin Steam Locomotive. He loved designing and building O Scale Steam engines, blue grass music, and most of all, his grandchildren, and his true companion: his dog.
A Celebration of Life for Jerry and Eunice will be held at later date.
The family extends special appreciation to the loving family from his care team and his hospice family as well.
