Richard “Brad” Bradley Tucker, age 69, of Troy, OH passed away on March 23, 2026 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born on December 12, 1956 in Oceanside, CA to the late Richard “Dick” Tucker and Mary Carolyn (Jelleff) Willis. Brad was raised with his sisters and brothers on a small five acre farm by Charles and Mary (Jelleff) Willis in Fletcher, OH.
He is survived by his five children: Christopher B. (Tiffany) Tucker of Oakridge, TN; Brian R. Tucker of Madison, WV; Stephen M. Tucker of Madison, WV; Nicolas D. (Amanda) Tucker of Charleston, SC, and Cory R. (Brittany) Tucker of Logan, WV; seven grandchildren: Richard J (Zoey) Thompson of Alabama; Brianna R. (Colton) Tucker of Lincoln County, WV; Roxy N. Tucker of Charleston, SC; Makayla P. Tucker of Madison, WV; Layken S. Chandler of Lincoln County, WV; Layla J. Tucker of Kanawha County, WV; Sebastian J. Tucker of Oakridge, WV; two sisters: Cindy A. Brad is preceded in death by his parents Charles D. and Mary C. Willis.
Brad was a 1976 graduate of Miami East High School and was active in the Marching Band where he played the clarinet and the alto saxophone and was first chair in Concert Band playing the clarinet and tenor saxophone.
Brad enlisted in the US Army in 1976 after high school and was stationed in West Berlin at McNair Barracks. He was assigned to the 6th Infantry Regiment and worked at the Spandau Prison where he guarded Rudolf Hess, Adolph Hitler’s personal aide during World War II. He would say that the cold stares he received while Hess walked and smoked his cigarette outside were chilling to say the least.
Also while serving in West Berlin Brad worked with the Armed Forces Network (AFN) operating cameras for newscasts. Other assignments were attending the Army Veterinary School located on the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center campus in Washington, D.C. Brad was also stationed at Fort Carson, CO and Casper, WY before being honorably discharged in 1983.
Although he didn’t get to see them often, Brad loved his sons and spoke of them lovingly and with pride. He enjoyed living in Germany, playing his instruments, crossword puzzles and he especially liked being with family at holiday gatherings.
Brad was retired and lived most of his life in Piqua, Ohio where he had numerous friends but spent the last year living in Troy, Ohio. He recently rededicated his life to our Lord Jesus Christ and knowing we will see him in eternity is a comfort to us all.
Graveside Services for Brad will be held at 11:00 AM on April 10, 2026 in Fletcher Cemetery, Fletcher, OH.
