Linda Kay Kennedy Newman

Linda Kay Kennedy Newman, age 71, of Troy, Ohio, passed away on May 16, 2026, at Upper Valley Medical Center. She was born on April 6, 1955, in Troy.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Charity Newman; step-daughter, Devera (Jason) Sales; sisters, Diana (Wade) Wilhelm, Carol (Tim) Meyer, and Brenda Kennedy Coverstone; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She grew up on the family Kennedy Farm and cherished memories of farm life and the animals. A 1974 graduate of Miami East High School, Linda was an active member of the Elizabeth 4-H Livestock Club, where she showed steers and completed sewing projects.

Linda enjoyed a long career working with the public, including positions at Rinks/Ontario’s, RTI, and Lincoln Community Center. She especially loved being around children and always made sure the children in her life received books for birthdays and Christmas. She had a deep love for animals, particularly her beloved dachshund Dappy and cat Snowball. In her free time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, cards, and playing checkers. Linda always said, “I Love You” when she seen everyone. Remember to always tell your loved ones “I Love You” as it may be the last thing you say to them.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Russ Newman.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Cove Spring Church with Greg Morrow officiating. Fellowship will follow until 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baird Funeral Home to help cover Linda’s funeral expenses.
