Jimmie Dale "Jim" Watkins

Jimmie Dale “Jim” Watkins, age 74, of West Milton, OH passed away on March 5, 2026 at Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born on January 6, 1952 in Yakima, WA to the late Dale and Dorothy (Rasmussen) Watkins.

Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years: Kathleen “Kathy” Ruth (Melton) Watkins; his four daughters and sons-in-law: Shannon (Mark) Schlegel, Tina (Daniel) Weaver, Elizabeth (John III) Schweser and Tabitha (Jason) Eaton; six grandchildren: Ellie, Jaylynne, Lydia, Madeleine, Kaiden and Reagan; two siblings: Vicki (Fred) Borgens and Shirley (Gary) Glenn and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Charles Watkins, Daylene Corneto and William Watkins.

Jim served his country in the US Marine Corps for 11 years. He was stationed in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal & The Good Conduct Award (3x). After being medically discharged, he worked for many years in IT and Sales. He then retired and moved with his wife to Ohio where he enjoyed his model trains, jigsaw puzzles, working and playing on the computer, reading western novels, and creating wood carvings. He most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Being a member of Hoffman Global Methodist Church in West Milton, Jim’s faith and love for Jesus was an instrumental part of his life.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday March 14th, 2026 at Hoffman Global Methodist Church, 201 South Main Street, West Milton, OH. A reception will immediately follow the service at Hoffman Global Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in memory of Jim to The American Lung Association.
