James E. Burns Jr.

James E. Burns Jr., age 79, of Pleasant Hill, Ohio; formerly of Troy, passed away on July 9, 2026 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born on July 30, 1946 in Troy to the late James E. Sr. and Virginia I. (Brown) Burns.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Beverly Ann (Adams) Burns; children: Amy (Willie Foster Peterson III) Weller of Springfield, OH, Angela (Shane) Carver of Springfield, OH and Gail (Ralph) Newhouse of Pleasant Hill, OH; grandchildren: Kirsti Carver, Madison Linville, Delayna Carver, Spencer Newhouse, Max Newhouse and Tessa Newhouse; great grandchildren: Ethan Johnson, Waylon Carver, Logan Sanders and Rozalinne Mae Newhouse; brother: Michael (Marcia) Burns of Piqua and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Virginia Fyffe, Barbara Crabtree, Mary Smith, Jerry Brown and Orest Burns.

Jim attended Troy Schools. He served in the U.S. Army and Air Force Reserves. Jim was formerly employed with the US Postal Service as a mail carrier and later he served in management and manufacturing. He enjoyed woodworking, camping and fishing.

Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy with interment to follow in Casstown Cemetery, Casstown. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM.
