Herma Faye (Bowling) Gibbons

Herma Faye Bowling Gibbons, 88, of Bellbrook, Ohio, died on May 19, 2026 at Centerville Post Acute in Centerville, Ohio. She was born in York, Kentucky on December 24, 1937, a daughter of the late Garrett Hobert and Hazel Colley Bowling.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Earl Gibbons whom she married on August 13, 1965 in Dayton, Ohio, and two sons: Tony (Scott Talbot Lewis) of Sarasota, Florida and Phillip (Betty Mayfield) of Brady, Texas; several grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Herma treasured her family and friends. Her hallmark was her big smile which she shared often along with a laugh. She worked in the service industry primarily with jobs in waitressing and housekeeping. Her most satisfying job was her last one as a lobby hostess at the McDonalds in Bellbrook where she was beloved by both customers and team.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters: Gladys Mae Johnson, Leona Marie Archery, Theola Myers, and Eunice Lewis; and six brothers: Alva Willard, Clifford, Oval Edward, Roy Clinton, Arvil, and Kenneth Bowling.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the caregivers and staff at Centerville Post Acute where she lived for the last 22 months of her life. They also have great appreciation for Ohio's Hospice of Dayton and their caregivers who gave Herma wonderful care and compassion.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Baird Funeral Home in Troy. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, May 27,2026, at Miami Memorial Park in Covington.
