Gaston C. Lavayen

Gaston C. Lavayen, age 68, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026, at his residence surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on March 23,1958, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, a son of the late Cristobal Vidal Lavayen Miranda and Donatila Isaura Barahona Leon.

Gaston enjoyed being outdoors. He was an avid gardener and he had a passion for being surrounded by beautiful flowers. His love of travel took him to many beautiful places. He loved working and recently retired from AM Leonard.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by one sister, Teresa Lavayen.

Gaston is survived by his wife Carol (Hughes) Lavayen, three step-children: Rick (Melissa) Shroyer, Tamela Alexander, and Pamela Purk; six siblings: Gallo Lavayen, Julio Lavayen, Patricia Lavayen, Ana Macias, Rosa Lavayen Barahona, and Olga Lavayen Barahona; eight grandchildren: Anthony, Tyler, Zachary, Gabriel, Joshua, Jordan, Matthew and Christian; and twelve great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Baird Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Troy. Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
