Gary L. Gates

Gary L. Gates, age 75, of Troy, OH passed away on July 24, 2026 at his residence. He was born on September 9, 1950 in Owingsville, KY to the late Clarence and Grace (Routt) Gates.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Leslie A. (Browning) Gates; son and daughter-in-law: Eric and Heather Gates of Piqua; five grandchildren: Xavier and Riliegh Voorhees of Springfield and Mason, Ella and Pierce Gates; siblings: Shella (Ray) Shrout of Tipp City, Patricia (Jim) Scott of DeGraff and Donald (Janet) Gates of Troy; sisters-in-law: Candy (Rick) Arnold of Waynesville and Chris (Dennis) Adkins of St. Louis, MO and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter: Melissa Ann Gates.

Gary was a 1969 graduate of Troy High School. He retired after many years of service with the City of Troy Water Treatment Department. He was a member of the Troy Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed walking and was an avid OSU and Bengals football fan. He was a great man who was an amazing provider and loving husband, dad and grandpa.

Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at the Baird Funeral Home in Troy with interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on Thursday.

The family extends appreciation to Day City Hospice nurses, aids and care staff for the care they provided to Gary.
