Frederick Gilbert Wackler

Frederick Gilbert Wackler, age 96, of Troy, OH passed away on July 20, 2026 at his residence. He was born on March 7, 1930 in Pleasant Hill, OH to the late Paul Alvin and Mabel Ella (Adams) Wackler.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years of marriage: Sue Ann (Evans) Wackler; son: Bradley P. Wackler of Troy, OH; daughter: Susan L. (Andrew G.) Valko of Madison, AL; granddaughter: Natalie Marie (Alex) Myers of Madison, AL; an expected great grandson in August; and niece: Linda Landis and nephew: Jim (Paula) Landis both of Pleasant Hill, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Wealtha L. Landis.

He was a graduate of Newton High School and Sinclair College. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War.

He was employed with UTC, the former BF Goodrich, for 22 years as an accountant. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Troy, Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity at The Ohio State University, National Geographic, and an Aviator member at the Air Force Museum. Fred was also a 56-year member, Past President, recipient of the Melvin Jones Award, and Past Chairman of the Sight Conservation Committee of the Troy Lions Club, where he helped provide glasses to over 500 people in need. He was the club’s leading Rose Day salesman and was very active with the Strawberry Festival and chicken dinner events. Fred also served as the Chairman for the Strawberry Festival Queen’s and Little Miss Pageants. He loved working on model airplanes and was an avid Buckeye fan.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the First Presbyterian Church of Troy. The family will receive friends afterwards. Interment will take place in New Carlisle Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Troy Lions Club or the Air Force Museum.
