Frank Holl Jr., age 77, of Troy, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, October 15. He was born on October 18, 1948, in Fairborn, Ohio, to Frank and Virginia Holl.
Frank graduated from Fairborn High School and went on to dedicate 44 years of hard work and service to Waste Management. Frank was a little ornery at times and never one to be mistaken for a pushover, but that was part of what made him who he was.
Frank shared 51 years of marriage with his wife, Michelle “Shelly” Holl. Their story began at Frisch’s 56 years ago, where they first met, marking the start of a life together filled with memories, hard work, and family.
Frank found a lifelong passion in horses, beginning with harness racing before eventually transitioning to Quarter Horses. He enjoyed the work that came with farm life and could often be found staying busy, spending time with friends, or lending a helping hand to someone who needed it. He was a man who believed in hard work, valued his independence, and found happiness in doing the things he loved.
Frank lived life his own way, with a strong spirit and a personality people wouldn’t soon forget. Whether he was working on the farm, talking horses, or running around with his buddies, he was happiest keeping busy and doing things on his own terms.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Michelle “Shelly” Holl; his daughter, Brittany (Dan) Retherford of Franklin, Ohio; his grandchildren, Reily and Troy Retherford, Nathan Holl, and Samantha (Nathan) Alexander; and his sister, Mary Jo (Bud) Ward of Bridgeport, WV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Virginia Holl, and his son, Greg Holl.
In accordance with Frank’s final wishes, no graveside services will be held.
