Dr. Warren W. Kaebnick, age 97, of Troy, OH passed away peacefully at home on June 28, 2026. He was born on October 31, 1928 in Altoona, PA to the late Reverand/Bishop Hermann Walter and Gertrude Lillian (Strehler) Kaebnick.

Warren is survived by his wife: Carol Kay (Capers) Kaebnick; children: Hermann Walter (Julie) Kaebnick II, Mark Alan (Mary) Kaebnick, Jon Conrad Kaebnick, Kimberly Kay (Bob) Downham and Todd Allen Short; eight (8) grandchildren; and ten (10) great grandchildren; Robert Schuller, the brother he never had and Jeffrey Welbaum, his surrogate son. In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by his sister: Winifred Lillian Kaebnick.

Warren was a graduate of Somerset High School in Pennsylvania. He then graduated from Albright College with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Warren graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, with a Medical Degree where he was also a Teaching Fellow. He then interned with Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH. He worked as a Family Doctor in Dayton before completing his four (4) year surgical residency at the University of Miami, FL at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Afterward, Warren returned to a General Surgery practice in Dayton for a year and a half prior to locating in Troy, Ohio.

Warren was a General Surgeon in Troy from 1969-1992. During his tenure, he served as Chief of Staff at Stouder Memorial Hospital. Upon retirement from his surgical practice, Warren became the first Medical Director with Upper Valley Medical Center. He was Past President of the Miami County Medical Society, Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, Fellow at American College of Surgeons, Fellow in the American College of Physicians and Executives, an Invited member of the Southeastern Surgical Congress, and a certified member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.

Warren served as a Pilot in the United States Air Force which led to a life-long passion for flying. He was also a Classical Pianist, a Historian, a Teacher, an avid Golfer, and in enjoying his retirement years Warren found his love of Art and became a beautiful Artist. His vast knowledge and interest in the Civil War led him to be President of the Dayton Civil War Round Table; which in turn prompted him to start the Stillwater Civil War Round Table in Miami County (which just celebrated 30 years). Warren was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Troy, Ohio. He will be deeply missed by his family and all whose lives he touched.

Memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church on July 17, 2026. Visitation with family begins at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m.
