Dorothy Sue "Shirley' Barnes

Dorothy Sue “Shirley” Barnes, age 83, of Fletcher, OH passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026. She was born on August 4, 1942 in Richlands, VA, to the late Aca and Dorothy Irene (Clines) Johnson.

She is survived by her children: Tina (Michael) Force of Fletcher and Scott (Bert) Barnes of Troy; five grandchildren: Brandon (Haley) Force, Mikey (Fiancé, Bree Milne) Close, Stevie Barnes, Megan (Logan) Wise and Kelsey (Johnathon) Purcell; four great grandchildren: Lincoln, Olivia. Maggie and Carter; and siblings: Gail Hess, Betty Shelton, Melvin Johnson and Calvin Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years: Lawrence E. “Red” Barnes; son: Donald E. Barnes and great grandson: Declan.

Dorothy was a graduate of Richlands High School. She loved to shop, work on her house and go to flea markets and thrift stores.

Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Baird Funeral Home, Troy. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Fletcher Cemetery, Fletcher.
