Carolyn Jean (Bucholtz) Hobart 94 passed peacefully February 28, 2026 at Garbry Ridge Assisted Living in Piqua, Ohio now bound for eternal life in her Heavenly home.

She was born August 28, 1931 in Piqua to the late Albert & Bertha (Bausman) Bucholtz.

On October 22, 1955 she married Charles "Charlie" C. Hobart, Jr. He passed in 2006, age 73, following 50 years of marriage.

Also, preceded in death beloved daughter Ellen (Hobart) Brown, passed in 2011, age 51, brother & sister-in-law Richard & Nancy Bucholtz.

Surviving family, son Martin (Tiresa) Hobart, grandsons Chase (Samantha) Brown and Cooper Brown, great-grandchildren Sophia, Colton, & Mason. Sister-in-law Marilyn Hobart, nieces, nephews & cousins.

A graduate of Piqua Central High School, class of The '49ers.

Carolyns first job began in Piqua at Citizens National Bank & Trust Co as a stenographer, then on to Hobart Corp in Troy as an administrative assistant.

Her faith was a source of comfort, from regularly attending church beginning as a child in Piqua and then in 1965 joining the First Presbyterian Church in Troy. She was a Trustee, on the Worship Committee & Serendipity Women's Study.

Volunteering her time started in Piqua for the Red Cross driving herself & other volunteers in a RC wagon to Wright-Patterson AFB for activities, later in Troy as a chairperson for the Stouder Hospital Auxiliary. She served on The Troy Foundation Board Distribution Committee, member of XI Gamma Omicron Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority as a co-chair of the antique show in Troy, Women's Republican Club, Current Events Club, Dolphin Swim Club & Troy Country Club.

Carolyns generosity was not only shared with those close to her but also through many charities she helped to support.

She showed strength of character, gave selflessly, was an ardent reader, had a quick wit & wisdom wrapped in humor. She'd regale us in singing "This Is Your Birthday Song" which big smiles & giggles ensued, had clever one-liners & enjoyed a laugh from a good joke. These are just a few reasons of many to why she'll be forever missed.

She enjoyed golf, bowling & for a short period of time indulged Charlie as his tennis partner in mixed doubles. They both liked traveling, concerts, the theater, dancing at the Cotillion club, walks & hikes. Fond memories were made from the trips they shared with family & friends.

Carolyn was a dedicated mother with the frequent tennis tournaments, skating & swim meets. A devoted & supportive grandmother to her grandsons baseball games & Special Olympic events. The youngest blessings were her great-grandchildren, which she adored & took great pride.

She cherished the friendships made from bonding over a hot cup of coffee & breakfast as a regular at K's Hamburger Shop in Troy.

Carolyn had the propensity to be private so if you were in her circle of friends count yourself held in high regard. Her faith, love of family & treasured friends were the touchstones throughout her life.

The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to the staff both at Garbry Ridge Assisted Living in Piqua and Legacy Hospice for their dedicated & compassionate care given to Carolyn during her dementia journey.

At Carolyns request there will be a private gravesite service to be held at a later date.

For those who wish can honor Carolyn with a memorial contribution to her church that meant so much.
