Carolyn Chamblee Harris, age 91, of Troy, OH, passed away on June 24, 2026, at her home. She was born on September 10, 1934, in Gadsden, Ala, to the late Claude Eugene and Lelia Hazel (Myrick) Chamblee.
Carolyn is survived by her children: Lisha (Mark) Grant, Stacy Harris, and Todd Harris; grandchildren: Jaimee (Jason), Spencer (Kurryn), Shelby (Shawn), Nic (Kaitlyn), Carolyn (Rob), Akacia (Jeremy), Chelsea (Chris) and Griffen (Stephanie), and great grandchildren: Myla, Phoebe, Aiden, Jaxon, Gabriella, Melina, Carter, Otto, Willow, Olivia, Noah, Micah, Gracie, Owen, Skylar, Emory, Cailyn, Audrey, Arlo, Rylan, Ainsley and Declan. Carolyn is also survived by her brother: Claude Chamblee; nieces, Suzanne, Dana and Denise and families, along with many beloved cousins from Alabama. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband: D. Kent Harris and her sister-in-law Marianne Chamblee.
Carolyn graduated from Auburn University in 1956 with a bachelor’s degree in child development. She grew up in Alabama and moved to Florida after graduating college to begin her career as a teacher. Carolyn was teaching Kindergarten, in Pensacola, when she met the love of her life, a handsome Navy Pilot, Kent. Together they had a wonderful life in Ohio, raised 3 children, and each enjoyed fulfilling careers, traveling and camping and many different hobbies.
Carolyn began her career in Ohio in 1970 with the Early Childhood Education program in Dayton. Carolyn was instrumental in the development and implementation of the curriculum that proved to be a huge benefit to the underserved population in Montgomery County. She was very proud of the work she did in the years she was with this program as the Curriculum Supervisor. Carolyn went on to become a realtor. Carolyn loved meeting people and being involved with the joy of new ownership. Along with this Carolyn loved to create and sell; she was involved in making jewelry, refinishing antiques and many other creative endeavors.
Carolyn loved her family deeply and will be greatly missed.
At Carolyn’s request, she will be cremated and buried by her beloved at Riverside Cemetery, West Milton. A private graveside service to be held at a later date.
