Barbara Jean (Jean) Shaneyfelt, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on October 24, 2026 at the age of 82.

Jean was married to Arlen (A.J.) Shaneyfelt for 60 years. She was a devoted mother to her son, Paul Shaneyfelt (Veronica), and daughter Susan (Steve) Wilson, and a proud and loving grandmother to Heny (Samantha) Shaneyfelt, Samuel Shaneyfelt, Elli Wilson and Olivia Wilson.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, James Richard Kerns and Mary Louise Kerns, and her sister Joyce (Raymond) MacDonald. In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren, Jean was survived by her brother Jerry (Marsha) Kerns.

Jean was born in Piqua, Ohio and is a graduate of Piqua High School, the University of Cincinnati, Wright State University and Central Michigan University. Jean was an educator and taught at the Upper Valley Career Center and was and Associate Professor at Edison State Community College.

Jean was an avid bridge player and played with several bridge groups for many years. Jean was also involved in the Miami County Republican Women’s Association and co-hosted their annual scholarship luncheon.

The family will hold a private memorial service.
