Alan C. Dunavent

Alan C. Dunavent, age 73, of Troy, OH passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born on September 25, 1952 in Troy, OH to the late Forrest H. and Thelma E. (Bybee) Dunavent.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years of marriage: Sara “Sally” (Ridenour) Dunavent; sons: Derek Dunavent of Troy and Aaron (Jerrica) Dunavent and grandchildren: Kalya Julian and Maddox Dunavent all of Medway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Bryce B. Dunavent.

He was a 1970 graduate of Miami East High School and received his Associates Degree from Purdue University. Alan was an ACE – Associate Certified Entomologist. He enjoyed singing and was a member of the St. Patrick Church 11:30 AM Mass Choir for 41 years and the community theatre in Troy, Tipp City and Brookville. He also enjoyed working outdoors with gardening and yardwork, coin collecting, relaxing with his cats and most of all, spending time with his family and grandkids.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on August 18, 2026 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on August 17, 2026 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy.
