Leo Sturgill, age 90, of Casstown, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born on August 12, 1928 in Eolia, Kentucky to the late John A. and Drucella (Bowman) Sturgill. He was married for 64 years to the late Lillian Berniece (Gibson) Sturgill.
Leo is survived by his children: Teresa Lynn (Michael) Brush of Piqua; and Tina Yvonne (Michael) Hunter of Troy; sister Mary Nora Sturgill of Huntington, WVA; grandchildren: David Bruce (Pamela) Williams; Jennifer Marie (Ben) Wappelhorst; Christopher M. Brush; Roger Dean (Angie Noon) Hines II; and Colt Lee (Ashley Zimorski) Hines; and great grandchildren: Kasan North; Kolton Hines; Konnor Hines; Haven Lynne Hines; Kaitlynn Marie Hines; Sophie Floyd; Ryan Michael Williams; Sarah Nicole Williams; Emily Grace Williams; Brooklynn Renee Scott; and Elizabeth Rose Scott; Andrew David Wappelhorst; Briana Wappelhorst; Emma Wappelhorst; Olivia Wappelhorst and Amery Wappelhorst.
In addition to his parents, Leo was preceded in death by his stepmother: Nellie (Olinger) Sturgill; and siblings: Otto Sturgill; George Sturgill; Cora Ellen Caldwell; and Marie Sturgill.
Leo was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Troy First Church of God. Leo retired in 1975 from Delco Products, General Motors Division.
Funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Baird Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Calhoun officiating. Interment will be at Casstown Cemetery with military honors provided by Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. Friends may call from 1-3 PM on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the funeral home.
