Joe E. Balmer

JOE E. BALMER, age 78, of Troy, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018, at Genesis/Troy Care Center in Troy.  He was born in Miami County, OH on July 13, 1940.

Joe is survived by extended family and close friends.  He was preceded in death by his mother: Angie R. (Robbins) Balmer.

Joe was a 1959 graduate of Troy High School.  He retired after 30 years from the Electronics Division of Hobart Brothers as a Foreman.  Joe loved to fly and wrote several books on WACO and other aircraft.  He volunteered at National Museum of USAF for 20 years.  Joe served as a trustee with WACO Historical Society and was founder and president of WACO Barnstormers R C Club. Joe was also secretary for WACO Area Flyers. He was also a member of Tuskegee Airman Organization.  Joe was a giver and would help anyone in need.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Friday, July 20, 2018 at Baird Funeral Home in Troy.  Graveside service at Riverside Cemetery in Troy will follow the visitation.
