Helen Louise West

HELEN LOUISE WEST, age 94, of Troy, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at her home.  She was born on March 19, 1924 in Troy to the late Lloyd and Cora (Wildermuth) Melvin.  She was married to the late Robert J. West. 

Helen is survived by 3 children: Carolyn Bolin of Troy, Rosemary (Alan) Leingang of Tipp City and James R. (Lori) West of Troy; siblings: Betty Woolery of Troy; Harold (Jean) Melvin of Troy, Cecil Melvin of Troy, William (Carol) Melvin of Memphis TN, Jerry (Lelia) Melvin of Troy and Linda (John) Pfister of Blairsville GA;  grandchildren: Jennifer Grogg, Jacqueline Welker, Tom Bolin, Lisa Easterwood, Katy Chastain, Wendy Pas, Kristen Corrigan, Robert West, Ethan West, Carly West, Tom Leingang, Brian Leingang, and Melissa Leingang; 19 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by siblings: Forest, Robert, and Lloyd Melvin Jr. Marsha Melvin, and grandaughter Angel West.

Helen was a 1939 graduate of Troy High School.  She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and retired from JC Penney’s after 18 years of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on September 29, 2018 at Baird Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Troy.  Friends may call 1 hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
