Donald E. Brown

Donald E. Brown, age 85, of Troy, OH passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at his residence.  Don was born on April 20, 1933 in Troy, OH to the late Ralph Franklin Brown and Mildred Viola (Weaver) Brown Kessler.

Don is survived by his wife of 63 years: Mary Jane (Tobias) Brown; son and daughter-in-law: Jeff and Michelle Brown of Rootstown, OH; daughter and son-in-law: Missy and Rusty Dornbusch of Troy, OH; grandchildren: Michael (Melissa) Boyd of Kent, OH; Alyssa Brown and Casey Brown both of Rootstown, OH; Kelsey Dornbusch and Bailey Dornbusch both of Troy, OH; great grandson: Mason Boyd of Kent, OH; sisters and brother-in-law: Betty Newnam of Troy, OH and Shirley and Don Wood of Urbana, OH and brother: Ralph Brown Jr. of Troy, OH.   In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by brother-in-law: Harold Newnam and sister-in-law: Joann Brown.

Don was a 1951 graduate of Milton Union High School and attended the University of Dayton.  He was a member of the Troy and Darke County Horseshoe Clubs, National Horseshoe Pitchers Association, Troy Fish and Game Club, Troy Senior Citizens and charter member of Troy View Church of God.  Don was a lab technician and chemist with NCR for 23 years and Monarch Marking Systems for 18 years, retiring in May, 2005.  Following retirement, he was a driver with Enterprise Rent-A-Car for ten years. Don enjoyed pitching horseshoes and hunting deer, rabbit and turkey.  He was an avid supporter of the Troy athletic programs and Troy Legion Baseball.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, OH with Pastor Dan Cain officiating.  Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, OH.  The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, PO Box 502, Troy, OH 45373.
