Ruth Marian Bloomer Galbreath Obituary

Ruth Marian Bloomer Galbreath, 93, went to God on January 15, 2021. She was a lifelong resident of Troy, Ohio and in recent years of Ohio Living-Dorothy Love, Sidney, Ohio.  She will be remembered as an independent, active and artistic mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and member of the community.

Ruth was born in Atlanta, Ohio to Margaret and Sydney Bloomer. Preceding her in death are her parents, brother Jerome Bloomer, and David K Galbreath Sr.

She is survived by three children, Constance (Charles) Winkler of Roswell, Georgia, David (Julia) Galbreath Jr. of Piqua, and Timothy (Kathy) Galbreath of Troy; seven grandchildren Patrick (Melissa) Galbreath of Piqua, Ann (Joseph) Tocco of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Kathleen (Dr. Daniel) Verrill of Tipp City, Elizabeth (Daniel) Jacob of Piqua, and Reid Winkler, John Winkler and Ben Winkler of Roswell, Georgia; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Ruth attended Miami University and majored in Physical Education and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Troy.

Ruth was a winning golfer in the Ladies 18 holes group at the Troy County Club.  She was a past president of the Troy Skating Club and served as a National US Figure Skating judge for over 20 years.  She was a Den leader for the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts.

Trying out many forms of art, Ruth enjoyed sewing, knitting, macramé, and creating lovely pieces as a longtime member of the Country Workshop Artists. She loved to garden and had a most beautiful flower and vegetable garden. 

Ruth worked many years as a Realtor and was a Member of the Ohio Realtors and Miami County Board of Realtors.

Private services for the family will be held at the New Holland Cemetery in Pickaway County Ohio.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name are suggested to the First United Methodist Church of Troy, the Miami County Park “One Tree at a Time Program” or the charity of your choosing.
