RITA M. GRENKO

A simple woman of profound strength and faith, Rita M Grenko died of natural causes on April 19, 2021 at the age of 97. Born on September 25, 1923 in Franklin Ohio, she was raised outside Miamisburg and lived most of her life in the Dayton area. After graduating from Miamisburg High School in 1941 she married Paul S Grenko on March 8, 1947 and with him had three sons. In 1958 they moved to Troy Ohio, settled and lived there the rest of their lives. Tragically, Paul died suddenly and unexpected in 1963 leaving her to raise three young boys and figure out life as a widow. But out of that tragedy she grew strength of character and a deepening of her faith in God. Both served her well in the years to follow. 

In 1970 she married Robert Grump, who died in 2000 again leaving her a widow. Over the years she considered herself first a mother and homemaker but also supported her family by working 18 years in the offices of Hobart Brothers Company, a source of many lifelong friends. 

Baptized at the age of eleven, she was a faithful, lifelong member of the Lutheran church and cultivated a deep, personal relationship with God. 

She is survived by sons Craig (Carol) Grenko of Loveland Ohio and Ronald (Donna) Grenko of Elizabethtown PA, stepson Kevin (Michelle) Montjoy-Grump of Oceanside CA, brother Lewis (Charlotte) Cluxton of Miamisburg, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  In addition, she leaves behind a legion of friends of whom her love knew no bounds.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son: David Grenko of Troy and brothers: Leonard and Ray Cluxton of Miamisburg.  

Rita’s smile and infectious positive attitude accompanied her to the end. She will be remembered for her deep faith in Christ and love for so many dear friends. Her’s was a life well-lived. 

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with interment next to her beloved husband, Paul, at Ellerton Cemetery, Miamisburg.
