Richard Russell "Dick" Swisher

Richard Russell (Dick) Swisher, age 96 passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County, Troy Ohio. Born in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Carl Gough Swisher and Myrtle (Kent) Swisher. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 75 years, Alberta Berniece (Gaiser) Swisher. Also preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Joyce Welch; son-in-law, Larry Sinchak, sisters: Virginia Mae Uhrig, Margaret Belle Brownlee, Jeanette Elaine Abrahamson, Edith Swisher; brothers: Paul Russell Swisher, William Kent Swisher, Robert Sheltman Swisher, Carl Swisher, and Jack Swisher. 

Dick is survived by his children, Connie Sinchak of Youngstown, Ohio, Cheryl (Steve) Cosner, of Troy, Ohio, and son-in-law Norman Welch; grandchildren Richard W. Sinchak, Suzanne R. D’Alesio, Joshua L. Cosner, Jonathan R. Cosner and Christopher N. Welch; 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, other relatives, and friends.

Mr. Swisher worked in the retail, hardware and paint business in the State of Ohio for over 50 years serving many satisfied customers.  A Navy veteran of World War II, Dick served on the U.S.S Smartt DE-257 on convoy duty in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean Theaters.  Dick was a man who valued family and home and will be missed and remembered by all with love.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Baird Funeral Home in Troy.  Private burial will be held in Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus, OH.
