Richard C. "Dick" Allen Obituary

Richard C. “Dick” Allen, age 87, of Troy, OH entered heaven and into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at StoryPoint Retirement Community in Troy with family at his side.

He was born on October 4, 1932 in Winfield, KS to the late Clyde and Clara (Maricle) Allen.  When he was two years old, they moved to Lodi, CA where his parents owned a restaurant.  He helped in the restaurant in his younger years.  They moved to Long Beach, CA in his high school years where he spent much of his time on the beach and playing beach volleyball.  He graduated from Long Beach Poly High School and two years at Long Beach City College.

Dick worked in the flooring industry for many years but his passion was always real estate.  In 1978 he received his license and soon after had his own real estate office.  Through the years his office grew eventually having agents who spoke seventeen different languages.  His greatest joy was helping others and seeing them achieve their goals.  He touched so many lives in so many ways.  He retired in 2011 and moved to Ohio in 2013 with his wife.

Dick’s favorite form of recreation was travel and especially cruises.  He enjoyed Alaska, Mexico, the Caribbean and Europe.  Road trips along the California coast was also a favorite.  When he wasn’t traveling he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. 

Dick is survived by his wife of 44 years: Charlotte J. (Beisner); four children: Edward (Mary Garvin) Allen of Hemet, CA; Michael Allen of San Bernardino, CA; Kimberly (Phil) Aquirre of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and Brandon (Deanna) Allen of Menifee, CA; six grandchildren:  Joshua (Emily) Allen; Jordan (Briana) Allen; Courtnie (Chris) Reid; Jacob Klinefelter; Molly Klinefelter and Makayla Bennici; nine great grandchildren:  Blake and Quinn Allen; Donovan and Jordyn Allen; Bobby and Drew Reid; Bailie Klinefelter; Willow Martinez and Hazel Hernandez and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  His family was everything to him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son: Ronald “Rick” Allen; brother and sister-in-law: Tom (Carole) Allen and sister: Mona Limon.

Dick was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sidney, OH and formerly active in Christ Lutheran Church in Brea, CA, Faith Lutheran in Whittier, CA and Trinity Lutheran in Indio, CA. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on July 15, 2020 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 300 Mason Road, Sidney, OH 45365.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  A memorial will be held in California at a later date.
