Rev. Verl A. Light, age 81, formerly of Tipp City, OH and more recently of Marion, IN passed away on August 25, 2021 in Indianapolis, IN. He was born on February 17, 1940 in Cozaddale, OH to the late George Compton Light and Elsie Mae (Monjar) Light.
Verl is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years: Frances L. “Fran” (Prine) Light; his four children: Verl Alan (Tracy) Light; Stephen Wayne (Lisa) Light; Jonathan Wesley (Jennifer) Light and Rachel Diane (Ryan) Budde; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his six siblings: Carl Light; Claude Light; Ruth Todd; Lloyd Light; Lois Holcomb and Gene Light.
He was a graduate of the Kentucky Mountain Bible College with an Associates of Arts and Pastoral Ministry. He was ordained through the Wesleyan Church. He served as the pastor with Bradford Wesleyan Church, Arcanum Wesleyan Church and Skyview Wesleyan Church in Tipp City. Following his retirement from Skyview, he attended the Northridge Wesleyan Church and served as the Pastoral Care Minister. He loved fishing, gardening, reading, working puzzles, rooting for the Cincinnati Bengals and Reds and most importantly, praying daily for his family and many others.
Services will be held at 5:00PM on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at the Skyview Wesleyan Church, 6995 Peters Road, Tipp City, OH with Pastor John Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00-5:00PM on Sunday at the church. A graveside service will take place in Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City, OH at 10:30AM on Monday, August 30, 2021.
