Opal M. Griffieth, 95, left her earthly home, to meet her Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday, May 22, 2021. She was born in October of 1925 to William & Joyce (Laughlin) Skinner, in Radnor, Ohio. On August 6, 1947, she married Jack E. Griffieth of Troy, who preceded her in death June 30, 1976; they raised four boys. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Steven L. Griffieth, James A. Griffieth, five brothers, Ed, Chet, Bob, Glen & Bill Skinner, and two sisters, Helen Swartz & Ruth Henderson. Surviving are two sons, Roger E. Griffieth (Janet), and Michael H. Griffieth (Patricia), both of Troy; two daughters-in-law, Catherine Griffieth of Englewood, and Benita Griffieth of Troy; a sister, Wilma June Thomas, of Colorado, and grandchildren, Tammy Miller (Bruce), Tricia Griffieth, Tanya Silva (Joseph), Todd Griffieth (Kathy), Tara Hartke (Stan), Tracy Richey (Kevin), Timothy Griffieth, Deborah Griffieth (fiancé James Hardwick), David Griffieth (Kristin), Daniel Griffieth (Kristin), Diana Griffieth, Jared Griffieth (Rachel), Katrina Griffieth, Courtney Wullenweber, 24 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
Opal was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Troy for over 70 years, where she served as a deaconess, taught Sunday School for over 40 years, was the Financial Secretary for over 20 years, and helped in AWANA.
Following her husband’s death, she was a care taker for several elderly patients (friends). She was the bookkeeper at Carter Lumber in Piqua for some 28 years into her 80s.
Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Grace Baptist Church, 1400 N. Market Street, Troy with Rev. Shawn Hess and Pastor David Griffieth officiating. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, following the service.
