Norman J. Shumaker

Norman J. Shumaker, age 73, of Troy, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at his residence.  He was born on February 8, 1950, in Dayton, to the late John and Mary “Pauline” (Corrigan) Shumaker.

Norman is survived by his wife of 50 years: Constance “Connie” L. (Lauer) Shumaker; and two children: Jennifer Shumaker of Denton, TX and Casie Voiles of Dayton, OH.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister: Karen Frick.

Norman was a graduate of Chaminade High School.  He proudly served his country as a member of the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, serving an additional 2 years after his original term of service was completed.  Norman was a member of the VFW Memorial Post 6557 in Ludlow Falls.  He enjoyed music, going to the rifle range and his Doberman, “Duke”.  Norman worked for 25 years in the printing profession, before starting his own screen print shop, Shumaker Screen Printing in West Milton and running it for 10 years.  On the side, he was a professional drummer.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on March 16, 2023, at Baird Funeral Home in Troy.  Full military honors will be provided by Troy VFW Memorial Honor Guard.  Family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on March 16, 2023, at the funeral home.
