Macinissa Mezache

Macinissa Mezache, age 72, of Troy, passed away on November 20, 2021 at his residence.  He was born on September 15,1949 in Azazga, Kabylia, Algeria to the late Amara and Sefia (Mazri) Mezache. 

He is survived by his wife of 42-plus years: Zouina (Ait Ahmed Kaci) Mezache; children: Yedhir Mezache of Lyon, France; Louisa (Joseph Lasko) Mezache of Columbus and Neil (Jacy Graves) Mezache of Columbus; one brother and five sisters and two grandchildren: Tulo and baby sister.

He received his undergraduate degree at the Institute of Sound & Vibration in Southampton, England and his Master of Science and PhD degrees in Acoustics from the University of Houston.  He worked with Crown Equipment Corporation, Emerson Climate Technologies and Texas Oil Co. before retiring in 2019 from United Technologies in Syracuse, NY. 

Macinissa loved electronics.  He also enjoyed making homemade soaps and breads.  He always had something going on.  He remained active in the Amazigh Culture movement.

Services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy with Rev. Chris Heckaman officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30-11:00AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
