John Melvin Dickey, age 81, of Troy, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022, at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit in Troy. He was born on March 30, 1941, in Painesville, OH, to the late John Daniel and Mary Alice (Kenneway) Dickey.
John is survived by his children: Mark Dickey of Lincolnton, NC, and Stephanie Watern of Troy, OH; Brother: Glenn (Barbara) Dickey of Columbus, OH; grandchildren: Elizabeth Dickey and Brandon Dickey, both of Huber Heights, OH, Alexander Dickey of North Pole, AK, and Logan Watern, Austin Watern and Cameron Watern, all of Troy, OH; and great grandchild: Liam McCaskill of Huber Heights, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-Mother: Ethel Dickey.
John proudly served his country as a member of the US Army, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, KY. He was a former member of the International Guild of Knot Tyers, volunteer 4H leader at both state and local levels and a volunteer Boy Scouts of America leader. John was a member of the Bucyrus Nazarene Church. He was a retired mechanical engineer.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on April 27, 2022 at Baird Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on April 27, 2022 at Baird Funeral Home.
