Joe Allen Polhamus, age 49, of New Carlisle, OH, peacefully went to heaven on November 25, 2022. As Joe departed this earth, his hands were held by his wife and daughter and he was surrounded by all his family. He was born on August 29, 1973 in Troy.
Joe is survived by his wife and best friend: Aoife (Butterly) Polhamus. He was a proud dad to his only child, Courtney (Jake) Ostendorf of West Milton, OH. Joe’s whole world revolved around his granddaughter, Nova Ostendorf, and grandson Johnny Joe Ostendorf. He was proud to be Papaw Joe. In addition to his wife, daughter, son-in-law and grandkids, he is also survived by his mother: Delena (Sphar) Polhamus; sister: Christy (Jason) Beireis; grandparents: Joe and Lois Sphar; nieces: Kali (Nick Williams) Higgs, Salem Williams; nephew: Oliver Perkins; father and mother-in-law: Nicky and Brona Butterly; and brother-in-law: Eoin Butterly. He is also survived by two special friends: Hoke and Lav. Preceding him in death were his father: Clifford Polhamus, Jr.; grandmother: Vivian Meggs; and grandfather: Clifford Polhamus, SR.
Joe was a skilled diesel mechanic and loved what he did. He was a very proud mechanic for Journey Trucking/RB Jergens and formally Hoke Trucking. Joe could build and fix anything he put his hands on. Joe spent his free time riding his motorcycle with his wife and buddies. He enjoyed riding in Tennessee and Florida. His free time was also spent making memories with his wife, daughter, son-in-law and grandkids. Joe loved to snuggle and take naps with his dog, Jager.
Joe had the biggest and best smile anyone has ever seen. His laugh and smile brighten our world. Joe loved his family, friends and co-workers dearly. He was a genuine person that everyone fell in love with.
The family would like to thank Dr. Joe Lavelle and the staff at Kettering Cancer Center (Troy) for years of dedication, hope and exceptional care.
Funeral service will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, at 7:00 PM, at Baird Funeral Home in Troy. Family will receive friends from 3:00 – 7:00 PM prior to the service.
