James Lester "Jim" Arnett

JAMES “JIM” LESTER ARNETT, age 73, of Troy, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, June 24, 2021. He was born on October 23, 1947, in Troy to the late Lester C. and Ruby (Oldham) Arnett.

Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years: Tana Sue (Shipp) Arnett; two children: Chad Allen (Laura) Arnett of Savannah, GA and Lisa Marie (Timothy) Dawson of Troy; five grandchildren: Hailey Arnett; Haidyn Arnett; Heath Arnett; Zachary Dawson and Steven Dawson; siblings: Max (Delina) Arnett of Greenville; Doug (Della) Arnett of Covington; Shirley (Joe) Meyer of Edwardsville, IL; Sharon Arnett of Piqua; Deborah Cook of Abilene, TX; Vickie (Jim) Ritzert of West Milton; and Sue (Rick) Gasson of Piqua and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by sisters: Jacqueline Lobenstein and Maxine Arnett.

Jim was a 1966 graduate of Troy High School.  He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, Troy where he sang in the children’s choir and he and his wife were baptized together as adults.  He was very devout in his faith. His main priority was his family.  He was a very devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.  Jim was very active in the Troy Skating Club and served many roles.   He coached many of his children’s soccer and little league teams. In their retirement, Jim and his wife enjoyed traveling together.  He was very skilled around the house and loved caring for his lawn and garden.  Jim was a tool and dye maker at General Motors Company.

Funeral services will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church, Troy. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Troy.  Friends may call from 5-7PM on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Baird Funeral Home, Troy.
