Gerald W. "Jerry" Matthew

GERALD W. “JERRY” MATTHEW, age 67, of Troy, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at his residence.  He was born on March 18, 1954 in La Junta, CO to the late William and Janice (Ritter) Matthew.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 32 years: Marilyn A. (Myers) Matthew; two step children: Jennifer (Matthew) Armstrong of Englewood and Bryan Collins of West Alexandria, OH; two brothers: Kevin Matthew of WA and Kent (Amy) Matthew of Pueblo, CO; grandchildren: Christopher (Tiffany) Collins, Megan Collins, Gabrielle Collins, Cole Collins, Lacy Armstrong and Ryker Collins; great grandchildren: Aubrey Collins, Mia Murphy, Dean Murphy and Kayden Collins; sister-in-law: Gina Hatton of Irvine, KY; and nieces, nephews and extended family.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one stepson: Robert Collins.

Jerry attended University of Cincinnati as a music major.  He enjoyed working on his lawn, watching birds, football, baseball, reading, music and especially his dog: Abby.  Jerry loved being a member of Franklin Lodge #14 F & AM, where he had served as Worshipful Master.  He was also a member of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite.  Jerry was a member of First United Methodist Church in Troy, where he sang in the choir.  He was a former police officer and State of Ohio Security.

Memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on May 27, 2021 at First United Methodist Church in Troy with Rev. Dr. Chris Heckaman officiating.  Masonic services will be held at 6:30 PM on  May 27, 2021 at the church.
