Fern Metcalf

Fern Metcalf, age 98, of Troy, OH passed away on December 21, 2021 at Troy Rehabilitation and Heathcare Center.  She was born on March 19, 1923 in Moorefield, IN to the late Charles Milton and Mary Goldie (Sigmond) Caplinger.

Fern is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Clark and Sharon Metcalf of Troy; daughter: Rory Rebecca Metcalf of Mineral Point, WI; granddaughter: Sara Elizabeth Metcalf of Troy; grandson: Steve (Cara) Danielewicz of Kettering, and his children: Jonathan, Maria, Kayla and Alayna; granddaughter: Emily (Jose) Joseph of Edmond, OK, and her children: Amal and Tirzah; grandson: Nathan Danielewicz of Huber Heights, and his children: Desiree, Mac’Kenzie and Elijah; and sister: Frances Weaver of Vevay IN.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Robert Metcalf; brother: Edwin Caplinger; sisters: Hazel Hopper and Jean Linville; brother-in-law: Gerald “Jerry” Lee Metcalf; and special niece: Tammy Bryer.
Fern proudly served her country in the US Navy during WWII.  She was a member of the Troy Christian Church and a lifetime member of the DAV.  She enjoyed crocheting, writing and playing solitaire.

A Gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.  Private interment with military honors will take place in Miami Memorial Park in Covington, OH.
