Evelyn Jean Nickel

Evelyn Jean Nickel, age 76, of Sidney, OH passed away on May 2, 2022 at Fairhaven Nursing Home in Sidney.  She was born on November 7, 1945 in Troy, OH to the late John and Edith (Sullivan) Kerg. 

Jean is survived by her daughter: Diana (Stephen Jr.) McWilliams of Sidney; sister: Shirley (Albert) France of Huber Heights; grandchildren:  Shawna Pellman of Sidney, Daniel McWilliams of Sidney, Nicholas McWilliams of Troy, Jessica (Eric) Whitten of Troy, Sue McWilliams of Sidney and Kalinn McWilliams of Sidney and great grandchildren: Madyson Crain, Hailey Crain, Dalton Crain all of Sidney, Renee Grant of Dayton, Savannah Pellman of Casstown, Samantha Mennecke of Dayton, Braiden Pellman of Casstown, Katarina McWilliams of Piqua, Chloe Mennecke of Dayton, Jessie Trapp of Piqua, Julius Whitten and Tawni Whitten of Troy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers: Bill Howe and Dale Kerg and sisters: Jo Grosvenor and Sue Massingill.

She was a 1964 graduate of Tipp City High School.  She was a member of the New Horizon Church of God in Troy.  Jean worked at Stouder Memorial Hospital in Troy and later at Upper Valley Medical Center for a total of 44 years.  She worked as a PCT and then as a housekeeper.

Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 6, 2022 at New Horizon Church of God in Troy with Pastor Joe Hill officiating.  Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery in Tipp City.  The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00PM on Thursday at the Baird Funeral Home in Troy.
