Elizabeth "Bette" Jean (Dobbie) Cahill

Elizabeth “Bette” Jean (Dobbie) Cahill, age 90, of Troy, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit.  She was born on June 30, 1931 to the late Alexander and Elizabeth (Sommerville) Dobbie.

Bette is survived by her three children: Robin (Rusty) Bartley, Bruce (Patty) Cahill and Kirk (Kate) Cahill; nine grandchildren: Greg (Carmen) Bartley, Jennifer (Clint) Erbacher, Meghan (Blair) Willcocks, Sarah (Tyler) Kammer, Kristin (Kevin) Horning, Alex Cahill, Max Cahill, Bailey (Justin) Willoughby and Cameron Cahill; and five great grandchildren: Sienna Kammer, Charlotte Erbacher, Rennie Willcocks, Bennett Kammer, and Simon Horning. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Nan Barrett and Mary Dobbie; brother: Thomas Dobbie; and husband: Edward Cahill in 2020 after 68 years of marriage.

Bette was a member of First United Methodist Church in Troy. She was a retired cafeteria worker for Troy City Schools. Bette was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was sweet and strong and never complained, and her faith made this possible.  She and Ed were a wonderful example of what love looks like.  She showed love with the wonderful food she cooked and baked for others.

The family would like to extend thanks to Hospice of Miami County and the home caretakers that looked after her.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Baird Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Troy. Family will greet friends from 9-11AM on Monday prior to the service.
