Curtis Christopher Gibson

Curtis Christopher Gibson, age 41, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Mt. Carmel Hospital, Grove City, OH. He was born on August 22, 1981 in Dayton, OH.

Curtis is survived by his wife: Kathryn B.G. “Kat” (Dunaway) Gibson; mother and stepfather: Naomi (Zimmerman previously Henry) and Danny Seago of Chillicothe, OH; father and stepmother: Chris and Denise Gibson, of Troy, OH; children: Conner (18) and Everly (5); mother-in-law and father-in-law: Lloyd and Virginia Dunaway of Dayton, OH; sister-in-law: Emily Dunaway; stepsister: Tiffany (Seago) and Scott Biddle; stepbrothers: Christopher Seago, Micah Seago and Christopher Gargrave; nieces: Agnes and Libby; nephews: Samuel and Brett; step nephews: Alexander and Caleb Gargrave.  He was preceded in death by his stepbrother: David Gargrave.

Curtis graduated with honors from Vandalia-Butler High School class of 2000. Curtis had a passion for music, learning piano, guitar and drums and being part of the school Choir, Symphonic Choir, and Special Quartet of his friends that in addition to school sang for many church and private events along with some street singing during a school choir trip to New York. In addition, to school and music pursuits he was a Boy scout earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

Curtis was baptized and was a member of First Baptist Church in Vandalia, where he went with his father (Chris Gibson) on a church mission trip to Ukraine and Israel during his Junior/Senior year. More recently he attended Vandalia Nazarene Church.  He coached his son in football for six years and was his biggest fan during Conner’s High School Varsity achievements.

Curtis was an avid cook and had a passion for food. His first job was cooking at various restaurants quickly moving up to Executive Chef. His greatest passion though was his love of family and what in recent years moved him to seek employment in a different field. He earned his CDL license but he worked at Wesco for the last 5 years up until his death.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy with interment to follow at Polk Grove Cemetery in Vandalia, OH. The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
