Charles R. Murphy

Charles R. Murphy, age 83, of Casstown, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021, at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.  He was born on February 15, 1938 in Morgantown, WV, to the late McComas J. and Lula (Dewitt) Murphy.  On November 5, 1956, he married Betty L. (Couch) Murphy and she preceded him in death on November 20, 2006.

Charles is survived by one sister: Etta J. Paugh of Springfield; and three nieces: Marie Kettlehake, Brenda Preston and Elizabeth Shambaugh, all of Springfield. Friend and co-worker Roger Miller of Pleasant Hill, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother: Josephine Murphy.

Charles worked several jobs in Springfield starting in 1956.  He became employed by Hobart ITW in 1992. 

Family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 PM on January 13, 2022, at Baird Funeral Home in Troy.  Burial will be in Casstown Cemetery, Casstown.
